right stamp has torn lower right corner and left stamp has creased perf on lower left, tied to cover with cds postmark "CRETE/MARCH/19/P.M./1917/TEX." The post office was opened in 1902 and closed in 1928. In the early 1990's, Crete was abandoned and is considered a dispersed rural community. Letter addressed to a Mr. Henry Kennedy in Broaddus, Texas sent by Ms. Emma Kennedy of Pennington Texas. Condition is fair with some staining, roughly opened on the left and creased along the bottom. Still quite a nice piece of Texas postal history.
